Club of Spin-off Companies
On 20th December 2005, the "Club of Spin-off Companies of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna" was established in Pisa. It is an association promoted by the School itself as charter member that will contribute to enhancing and transferring research results to the territory, by intensifying the collaboration relationships between Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and its spin-off companies, most of which work in the province of Pisa.
These companies are a tool, on which to leverage in order to foster the economic development, both at a local and national level, and they are ready to put into practice the stock of information and skills, which has been acquired by the new entrepreneurs during the experience they made as students and collaborators in public research centres.
The members are as follows: Humanware (located in Pontedera), which works in the field of mechatronics; MicroTech and Dedalo Solutions (located in Vicopisano and Peccioli, respectively) that are active in the biomedical field.
The following companies joined the founders: Encrea, a company of Lecce working in the field of precision mechanics; Evidence and VR Media, companies of Pisa dealing with ICT (Information Communication Technology); and other companies dealing with ICT, such as Synapsis (located in Livorno) and Pragma Engineering, with operational headquarters in Perugia. A company, which is active instead in the solution of environmental issues, is AEDIT (located in Lucca), whereas RoboTech (located in La Spezia) works in the field of robotics. Technodeal (located in Pontedera) provides consulting and entrepreneurial strategies. All the above-listed companies are the charter members; however Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna must be added to this list. The "spin–off companies" of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna that will join the Club later will be considered as ordinary members, whereas the "spin–off companies", which are not among the companies created by the School but deal with similar or complementary activities, will also be admitted to join the Club as "affiliate" members.
The companies, which established the "Club of Spin-off Companies" want to give visibility to the members, organize seminars and meetings and provide qualified services to face the challenges imposed by the market in the best possible way.
